Final Manuscript Steps

Statcheck.io — verify inferential statistics are internally consistent

Reciteworks.com/check — verify citations match references and vice versa

OSF.io — upload data, code, questionnaires, stimuli, etc. and create read-only link. Verify all materials are blinded for review.

PsyArXiv — I usually wait until acceptance to post an identified pre-print, to maintain author blind, but you can post one anytime. First create it, and then generate a DOI, and then modify the document and re-upload so that it contains the DOI also. It will be indexed automatically by Google Scholar. If the paper is accepted at a journal, update the pre-print again to list the journal name and official, published DOI.

Make separate Word documents:

  • Blinded manuscript with view-only link to OSF (for blind peer review; replace after acceptance with main OSF link)

  • Supplement

  • Title page with acknowledgments and CRediT taxonomy (e.g., pp. 11 of our 2021 replication paper).

  • Cover letter: very brief (e.g., 2-3 paragraphs): what we did, what the advance is). 2021 example.

The first author typically does the journal submission, but sometimes the senior or corresponding author will do the journal communication.
